Gryffindor students are selected for their house based upon their courage, determination, and strength of character; like their house mascot, the lion, they are often expected to be leaders among their peers. Their house founder, Godric Gryffindor, was a famous wizard dueler and advocated for the equal treatment of the wizard-born and muggle-born alike. Gryffindors enjoy the excitement of competition and the glory of victory, and are often enthusiastic about contests and sports, especially Quidditch.
Personality-wise I've always considered myself to be a Gryffindor, and by the time I decided to finally get myself a set of robes in 2010 this was easy enough to do. The robe, sweater, and tie are all bought from official merchandise lines, and the other clothing I had in my closet. I specifically chose a cream-colored shirt for layering under the sweater because I felt cream went better with the gold and maroon colors of the Gryffindor wardrobe than pure white. Also, looking at the reference images in the films, their shirts seem to be more off-white than white. For a wand I use my resin one that I also use for Godric and Sirius Black. My favorite part of this costume is my scarf, which is handmade and at least twice as long as my height; Shiva had it commissioned for me as a Christmas gift by asking a Doctor Who scarf-maker if they could make a Gryffindor scarf but the length of the 4th Doctor's famous giant neck-piece. The commissioner herself was thrilled with the idea, as was I when I opened my gift!
