Banana Surprise is one of six ice cream-themed "Sundae Best" ponies released in 1987 by My Little Pony. The Sundae Best ponies create frozen confections at the ice cream shop, with Banana Surprise specializing in banana split sundaes with various surprise treats hidden inside her magic bananas. Her cutie mark is banana split in a white and yellow colored dish and she is colored pink as well as banana-scented. An Earth-style pony, Banana Suprise enjoys adding whimsy to her creations.

Construction Notes:
After making my Peppermint Crunch from the Sundae Best Series in 2009, I decided to get the full Sundae Best group together since they are so colorful and adorable looking! For Banana Surprise I pushed a more teenaged 80s theme for her design, pairing her circle skirt with a one-shoulder top and oversize mint floppy bow closure and big hair accessories. My base fabric for this costume was baby pink fleece, and I used Peppermint Crunch's skirt, cutie marks, and leg/arm warmers as patterns to ensure they matched both in size and design. The skirt is fully lined and the ice cream cutie marks are cut from craft foam, glued together in layers to create the design and then hand sewn onto the outer layer of the skirt. The top is self-patterned and I used extra wide satin bias tape to create the bow closure. The leg and arm warmers are trimmed with thick mint ribbon to suggest hooves, and yellow ribbon accents on the warmers and hairbow pulled the "banana" aspect into the design. For the hair and the tail I used my Vocaloid wig, using one ponytail clip for a high 80s style hair ponytail and the other clip for the butt tail. Finally, the ears I bought from Yaya Han's pony accessory line. I love how this design came out!
